On Saturday and Sunday, June 20/21, 2009, the traditional steam and diesel days took place at the Valkenburg Narrow Gauge Museum in the Netherlands. A total of five steam locomotives and 12 diesel locomotives were in action. Additionally there were many portable diesel pumps, a steam pump and two steam rollers at work on the museum site. On both days a locomotive parade took place, showing the locomotives at work on various trains of industrial origin. More photos can be seen in the photo gallery.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, December 29 and 30, 2009, the December specials ran at the Valkenburg Narrow Gauge Museum. These are not to be confused with the Santa Specials which took place a week earlier. On December 29th a bitterly cold wind blew across the lake, and even the cylinder oil of the Henschel refused to flow properly. Despite the cold, full trains were booked and a very atmospheric event could be witnessed, followed by the traditional Dutch fritters called 'oliebol' (rather like a fritter with dried grapes) and hot German 'Glühwein'.
