News

Services on the Tralee & Blennerville resumed with diesel traction: Since 2006, the historic Tralee & Dingle Railway locomotive no. 5T has been out of service due to a boiler problem. The Tralee & Blennerville Railway is closed and the locomotive has been stripped down, with the tanks, cab roof and the boiler stored in the open, close to the Atlantic coast and subject to all weathers. In May, 2009, however, the Tralee Council removed the parts of the locomotive from the Blennerville site, stating that the immediate priority is to put them under cover. Finally, in August, a diesel locomotive appeared on the Tralee & Blennerville, and services were resumed. LATEST NEWS: In May, 2010 there was no sign of any train service being resumed at Blennerville. Investigation will follow.
